Worldwide Picture Book Illustration Competition 2016

Worldwide picture book illustration competition 2016I normally only post on Tuesday or Wednesday, but I am doing this one early this week, as I only stumbled on this over the weekend. I entered this competition last year (I didn’t win) and I really enjoyed the process, so I am now spreading the word to all you other amazing illustrators!

Ok, so here is the deal – the competition requires 3 illustrations that tell a story. The medium can be anything, from digital, to coffee. The illustrations can be up to an A3 size. You can add text, and you must supply a synopsis of the story, of not more than 250 words. You can only enter if you have not published an entire picture book with a trade publisher before. If you have published education books or other forms and genres, then you are still allowed to enter.

Illustrators from all over the world are allowed to enter! But they ask that the text/synopsis please be in English just for the jury members.

What’s the prize?

The works of the twelve winning artists will be part of a traveling exhibition, which will be shown in the participating countries (Netherlands, Belgium, South Africa, Germany and United Kingdom). The final selection will be published in an international catalogue and presented to the several leading picture book publishing houses at the Bologna Children’s Book Fair 2017.

For more info, entries and previous winner, visit their website: http://www.wwpbic.com/wwpbic.com/index.php/en/

When submitting remember to change the website to your country (the little flags on the left). Good luck!

I’ll be posting a little tit-bits of my entry on social media.
